You may have read my last thread about trusting your dealer. Well, they installed the hitch incorrectly so I took it apart and started over. Below is a pic of my setup. The truck has a 2" lift in front (leveling kit) so that, I believe, contributes to the squat in the rear.
Here's the height for the front fender:
Unloaded: 38 5/8"
Hitched no bars: 39 1/8"
Hitched w/bars: 38 5/8"
I would have to believe that this is a pretty good setup considering I got the front fender back to its unloaded height. I'll remeasure things when I'm fully loaded up, but for now it just has a full tank of water (42 gals) and 3/4 tank of fuel in the truck. I wish I had measured the rear too.
Anyway, I purchased a set of air bags to help out in the rear, I think I need to get it up about 2" in the rear. How will raising the rear 2" affect the weight distribution? Obviously I'll remeasure afterward, but I would like to hear from some experienced people on the subject before I decide to install. Would you even bother with the air bags? The front of the trailer is actually about 2-3" lower than the rear so it'll help out in that aspect as well...but I can also move the head up one notch on the shank too. Anything that I'm not thinking about?
