I decided to replace the tranny fluid in my MBS, so I ordered the super special Amsoil ATF approved by Mercedes. I knew that the tranny has no dipstick so I very carefully measured how much came out so I could put exactly that much back in. But then I could not find the filler tube! I Googled it and watched You Tube videos but found nothing on this Bluetec turbo-diesel V-6. I searched above and below but could find no sign of it. But everything on the interent pointed towards it being near the firewall on the passengers side. After several calls to the local MB dealer, they finally told me where it was, which is under the plastic coolant reservoir at the radiator. I never would have found it there! To make matters worse, you have to break a tap on the black plastic cap, then somehow remove a second plastic locking tab just to get the cap off. Then, the fill tube mouth just barely accepts the tiniest funnel you can find, and then it narrows down from there! It's only about the diameter of a pencil so you have to pour the fluid really s-l-o-w-l-y or it just backs up and comes out the tube. Motto: I will not DYI this tranny again! Although I am going to order a dipstick for the thing...
