I submit to the Weight God's

Finally got the toy hauler yesterday. Thanks to wondering around here for the last 4 1/2 months while it was being built, my first trip today was to the scales. I loaded some stuff plus the quad and a full load of fresh water (46 gal) and headed out.

Here's the stats: 2011 Ram 1500, 4x4, Outdoorsman., 5.7L Hemi, full tank of gas; GVWR: 6800. Max tow rating 9,950. Max GCWR 15,500. Using an EAZ-Lift Recurve R3 WDH. I ended up weighing 4 times, and made 1 adjustment to the hitch head before the final weigh.

Weigh 1; with torsion bars attached.
Steer: 3620
Drive: 3460
Trailer: 7280
Gross: 14360

Weigh 2; same as 1 except torsion bars detached and in bed of truck.
Steer: 3120
Drive: 4140
Trailer: 7040
Gross 14300

Weigh 3; truck alone, hitch still attached, bars in bed.
Steer: 3540
Drive: 2860
Trailer: n/a
Gross 6400

Weigh 4; adjusted hitch head, bars attached, final setup.
Steer: 3540
Drive: 3560
Trailer: 7220
Gross 14320

So if I did my homework correctly, the final weigh is good to go. Steer axle weight is matched to unhitched axle weight. Front and rear axle ratings is 3900lbs, I'm under both, I'm under GCWR. I know I'm tight on payload capacity, only have about 400lbs left. Tongue weight is 760lbs which is right at 12%.

So, how'd I do on my math? I never would have known to go to this extent prior to finding the site, so thanks all :trink39:. Driving home from the scale, the truck felt a lot better than yesterday when I drove home from the dealer. I may be able to put off a new truck for just a bit longer, we'll see.

I'll put up another thread, probably tomorrow with pics of the new rig.
