Suggestions; north from New Orleans to North Dakota

Howdy everyone.

We're heading north to North Dakota and Montana this summer, and wonder if anyone has suggestions/recommendations for places to stay or see along the way.

We'll be starting from New Orleans and are looking to stay a week or more at each of the following places; Shreveport, Memphis, Hannibal, LaCrosse, and Bemidji.
